David and I are in agreement that what began over a year ago as an “exercise” has evolved. The drawings from 2020 began with ink and charcoal washes on paper usually 25 in. x 18 in. As the series and sessions continued, the drawings are maturing into something: that something may not become perfectly evident until the 2021 drawings (all larger format: 72 in. x 29.5 in, or 48 in. x 25 in.) can be seen in a space together. Each drawing may be a chapter in a narrative, but the order of the chapters and the full story are elusive for now. The drawings – and the conversations will continue…
